We tried to setup an ADAM in our test environment that is using user proxies against AD. While the ActiveDirectoryMembershipProvider works with normal ADAM user accounts, we could not, however, log in with any of our proxy accounts.

ADAM contains functionality for handling password expiry. This is a property set on the user object, but it's a special kind of property.

Using Windows Scripting host (Wscript) and ADSI objects you can actually setup ADAM from a script. This is really useful when deploying to different enviroments. I will give a quick walkthrough of some of the features in this script. The scripts are written in an idempotent way that will allow you to run them and implement changes incrementally.

If you set connectionProtection to "Secure" on the membership provider in your web.config you may get an error in the event log saying "8009030e No credentials are available in the security package". This is because there is no suitable certificate installed on the server that ADAM can use. This blog-entry will try to help you resolve this issue.
