Using Windows Scripting host (Wscript) and ADSI objects you can actually setup ADAM from a script. This is really useful when deploying to different enviroments. I will give a quick walkthrough of some of the features in this script. The scripts are written in an idempotent way that will allow you to run them and implement changes incrementally.

ADAM is a good store for users in .NET, but some things tend to take long time to figure out. One of these are password managment. This post will explain a method for setting a user's password from code (for resetting a password, changing a password etc.).

If you set connectionProtection to "Secure" on the membership provider in your web.config you may get an error in the event log saying "8009030e No credentials are available in the security package". This is because there is no suitable certificate installed on the server that ADAM can use. This blog-entry will try to help you resolve this issue.
